Hi, we’re Bloom & Wild. We don’t just send flowers. We help our customers to care wildly. Caring wildly is celebrating the little things we all do for each other every day. Not just the big occasions. It’s being there for the highs. Stepping up for the lows. We care wildly about people and our planet. Which is why we’re so proud to be a certified B Corp™ – committed to making long‑term positive change for our community, and the world around us. Founded in 2013, our mission back then was to make sending and receiving flowers the joy that it should be, by harnessing technology, brand and letterbox delivery. We announced £75 million Series D funding in 2021 and that same year acquired bloomon in The Netherlands and Bergamotte in France. Together, we’ve fulfilled and delivered over 20 million orders (and counting!), making us the largest direct to consumer flower business in Europe. Now home to a family of 3 beautiful brands, we’re driven by our vision to create the destination for making life a little more thoughtful and beautiful. And we won't stop at flowers and plants. Starting with the Bloom & Wild brand, we’re expanding our gifting offering to other categories like cakes, candles and cocktails. This is all part of our ambition to build Europe’s #1 direct to consumer gifting destination.
What you’ll be doing
This is a high-impact 9 months maternity cover role focused on our UK “multicategory” non flower gifting categories which range from baked goods, hampers, home and pamper items, premium greeting cards as well as our “add on” products sold with our flowers ranging from vases to chocolates and other "multicategory" items. You will be responsible for ensuring we hit ambitious growth, range expansion and margin improvement targets through a period that includes several of our busiest peaks, including Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.
- Strategic Leadership & Execution
- Drive Growth: Implement the 12-month growth strategy for non floral multicategory gifting products, add‑ons, and premium greeting cards in the UK.
- Expand product categories and range: Lead the co‑ordination of the expansion of the non floral gifting range with close collaboration with the range, procurement and operations teams, advising the COO, CMO and wider executive team of opportunities, risks, and process optimisations required.
- Cross‑Functional Alignment: Act as the central “glue” between Marketing, Merchandising, Brand, and Product & Tech teams to ensure non‑horticultural products are considered in company‑wide projects, marketing and trading plans.
- Product and Tech collaboration: In addition to facilitating cross‑functional alignment, define requirements and build prioritisation cases for multicategory, add‑ons or stand‑alone greeting card product features to facilitate growth.
- Commercial & P&L Ownership
- P&L Management: Full ownership of the P&L for all non‑horticultural categories. You will drive top‑line growth while strictly managing margin guardrails and Order Per Customer (OPC) metrics.
- Financial Planning: Partner with Finance/FP&A to manage the yearly budget and lead the mid‑year re‑forecast.
- Trading Performance: Review weekly and monthly P&Ls, perform detailed analysis of trading and product data, identify root causes for any deviations, and pull commercial levers (range, merchandising, marketing) to enhance and optimise performance. Own reporting on performance in fortnightly trading meetings.
- Operational & Supply Chain Oversight
- Procurement Partnership: Work closely with Procurement on margin improvement strategies and ensure a seamless supply chain for non‑horticultural goods.
- Ops Problem Solving: Collaborate with the Operations team to solve complex issues, such as peak dispatch planning, warehouse transitions, or quality control for premium greeting cards.
- Team Management
- Line Management: Directly manage and provide career direction for the Non‑Horti Commercial Manager.
- Mentorship: Guide the team on broader commercial priorities (e.g., when to prioritise volume vs. profit) and review technical work such as SKU mix modelling and wastage management.
- Peak Trading Focus
- Peak Trading Leadership: Oversee daily dispatch updates and complex shipping plans during high‑volume periods across key retail peaks (November, December, February, and early March).
- Operational Decision‑Making: Provide senior‑level judgement on complex trading situations, including tricky operational setups and stock risk management.
- Performance Reporting: Represent trading performance and key risks in daily trading forums, ensuring clear visibility of dispatch plans, stock levels and operational issues.
You’ll love this role if you…
- Have experience in a senior Commercial or Category Management role within an e‑commerce or retail environment or prior relevant strategy consulting experience.
- Have strong financial acumen with the ability to build bottom‑up budgets and manage complex P&Ls.
- Are comfortable getting “hands‑on” with operations and supply chain challenges when necessary.
- Are enthusiastic about AI and the discovery and implementation of ways that AI can be used to enhance your, and your function’s, performance.
- Have prior experience working with tech and product teams.
- Can influence at Exec level and build strong relationships across Product, Business Intelligence, Operations, Procurement and Marketing functions.
- Have experience managing and developing high‑performing team members.
