This unique programme has been designed to provide aspiring psychologists with exposure to areas of practice that are often difficult to access, including:

Unlike many honorary roles that are primarily observational, our Assistant Psychologists become valued members of the clinical team and are provided with meaningful opportunities to contribute to service delivery. You will gain exposure to:

  • ADHD assessments
  • Specialist Trauma and Attachment Assessments under the ASGSF
  • Developmental Coordination Disorder (Dyspraxia) assessments
  • Multidisciplinary diagnostic meetings
  • Clinical formulation and decision-making processes

You will observe and learn from clinicians specialising in:

  • Complex presentations
  • Trauma-informed assessment and intervention approaches
  • Specialist Psychometric Assessment

You will support clinicians with the administration, scoring and interpretation processes associated with a range of standardised measures and assessment tools. Depending on experience and competencies, opportunities may include supporting:

  • Cognitive assessments
  • Behavioural rating scales
  • Autism assessment measures
  • ADHD assessment measures
  • Executive functioning assessments
  • Emotional wellbeing measures

Clinical Experience Within a Specialist MDT

A key feature of the programme is direct exposure to multidisciplinary working. You will work alongside:

  • Clinical Psychologists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Art Therapist
  • Specialist Assessors
  • Senior Clinical Leaders

Dedicated Supervision and Professional Development

All Honorary Assistant Psychologists/Clinical Assistants will receive:

Regular supervision will be provided by a Specialist Clinical Psychologist, offering opportunities to:

Responsibilities

Depending on experience and service needs, duties may include:

  • Assisting with psychometric administration and scoring
  • Data collection and outcome monitoring

  • Assisting with audit and research activities

Location and Working Pattern

This is a flexible hybrid opportunity. Successful candidates will be expected to attend face-to-face clinical sessions across:

  • St Albans

Home-Based Working Opportunities for remote working may include:

Part-time and flexible arrangements will be considered to accommodate study and other commitments.

  • Psychology graduate (minimum 2:1 preferred)
