UNPAID VOLUNTEER – Senior Research Officer (Sustainable Finance)
Join the Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI), an international volunteers‑led think tank that advocates the use of blockchain for climate action. BCI is seeking experienced volunteers to serve as Principal or Senior Officers in its Finance Research Division.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Research Officer, you will lead research initiatives on sustainable finance in the real‑estate sector, contribute thought leadership, manage projects, and represent BCI at conferences.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct primary and secondary research, including quantitative and qualitative studies, and publish high‑quality research papers.
- Generate opportunities for strategic partnerships that support BCI’s research agenda.
- Attend conferences and events to promote BCI, communicate findings, and engage key stakeholders.
- Provide sustainable finance thought leadership and project management for BCI’s Research Division.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Climate‑risk framework knowledge: TCFD, Basel III/IV, and related financial risk guidelines.
- Financial product expertise: Fixed income, equities, commodities, derivatives, and sustainable finance standards (ICMA, ISO, SASB, EU Taxonomy).
- Digital data technologies: IoT, AI, Industry 4.0, analytics, DLT relevant to green investment.
- Research design and delivery: Experience planning and facilitating independent research, meeting tight deadlines, and publishing results.
- Stakeholder engagement: Proven ability to build constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work independently or in teams.
- Academic background: Relevant degree and prior research publication experience.
SKILLS
- Excellent English writing and oral communication; working knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish is desirable.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Persuasive presentation skills capable of adapting to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
