About BCI

The Blockchain & Climate Institute partners with the UN, EU, and sovereign governments on climate policy and blockchain innovation. Our volunteers drive real climate solutions - better learning means more capable volunteers, which means greater impact.

The Role

You will design and run the evaluation framework for BCI's learning programmes, starting with an intensive onboarding transformation and continuing as our ongoing learning analytics function.

Phase 1 - Transformation Project: Redesigning volunteer onboarding from compliance-heavy to mission-driven. You will prove whether it works by establishing baselines, tracking progress, analysing what is effective, and presenting findings to leadership.

Phase 2 - Ongoing Analytics: Monitor learning effectiveness, evaluate new initiatives, identify improvements, provide evidence that drives decisions about how we develop volunteer capacity. This isn’t box-ticking. You will actively shape BCI’s capacity building through evidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • During Transformation
  • Design evaluation framework and establish baseline metrics
  • Set up data collection in 360Learning platform and create tracking dashboards
  • Analyse pilot data and provide weekly insights to learning designers
  • Monitor volunteer feedback and engagement patterns
  • Conduct comparative analysis (new vs. old approach)
  • Prepare impact reports and board presentations
  • Attend weekly team syncs (1 hour)
  • Ongoing
    • Track onboarding effectiveness and volunteer progression metrics
    • Produce regular reports on learning engagement and retention
    • Evaluate new learning modules and initiatives
    • Identify underperforming content and recommend improvements
    • Support A/B testing of different approaches
    • Provide evidence-based input into capacity building strategy
    • Present findings to leadership and board
    • Optimise 360Learning platform usage

    Requirements

    • Technical
    • Experience designing evaluation frameworks for learning/change programmes
    • Data analysis proficiency (Excel/Sheets minimum; SQL/Python/R/Tableau bonus)
    • Experience with Learning Management System data (360Learning ideal but not essential)
    • Clear data visualisation and dashboard creation skills
    • Understanding of quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Knowledge
    • Understanding learning effectiveness metrics beyond completion rates
    • Familiarity with adult learning evaluation (Kirkpatrick or similar)
    • Ability to distinguish activity from impact
  • Working Style
    • Highly organised - delivers meaningful work in 8 focused hours weekly
    • Works autonomously within clear parameters
    • Comfortable challenging assumptions when data contradicts them

  • Personal
    • Curious about what makes learning work
    • Mission-aligned with climate action
    • Pragmatic - useful insights over academic perfection
    • Collaborative - supports rather than audits
    • Patient with volunteer organisation realities
  • Desirable
    • Experience with volunteer or mission-driven organisations
    • Onboarding/induction programme evaluation
    • Instructional design or learning science background
    • Board-level stakeholder presentation experience
