The Role

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced senior Risk or Compliance lead / Chief of Staff to work alongside and support our Head of Compliance for Clearpay UK and the broader Clearpay Compliance Team. This is a new role that will involve extensive global collaboration to refine and deliver an evolving Compliance Programme in preparation for FCA regulation. This lead will report directly to the Head of Compliance (future SMF16).

You Will

  • Lead the governance and operations of the Compliance Function, specifically:
  • Support with the design, execution and monitoring of the team’s strategy including: resource planning, development and detailed deliverables.
  • Lead on ensuring the Compliance Framework and Programme is comprehensive and sustainable, including documenting and maintaining policies, standards, and procedures for the Compliance Programme.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of internal Compliance reporting e.g. Board and Executive Committee, ensuring this is coordinated.
  • Develop and deliver the team’s regulatory engagement and response approach, including management of regulatory engagement and regulatory reporting, responding to and tracking information requests and actions.
  • Lead on coordinating the Compliance Team’s roll out of an improved approach to Risk Management, working with Global stakeholders.
  • Prepare briefing materials for the Head of Compliance ahead of internal and external meetings.
  • Guide the development of frameworks for, and ensure execution of regulatory change management.
  • Stay informed of regulatory developments and industry trends and support the Head of Compliance to ensure the Compliance Team is operating.
  • All of this work will include global engagement to align with broader Block initiatives.

You Have

  • 6+ years experience in a senior Risk or Compliance / Chief of Staff type role where you are leading the operations of a Compliance or Risk Function.
  • Experience working on high-profile FCA regulatory change programmes or projects with a Risk or Compliance remit, demonstrating the ability to anticipate and prioritise.
  • Knowledge of regulatory interaction including managing information requests and audits, responding with urgency, and developing and tracking management action plans.
  • Outstanding communication (written and verbal) skills with the ability to communicate complex topics to stakeholders and senior leaders.
  • Knowledge of FCA regulation including a detailed understanding of the FCA’s expectations of compliance, governance, culture, risk management and individual accountability.
  • Experience identifying, recording and overseeing the remediation of incidents and issues and escalating them to the appropriate teams and regulators.
  • Prioritise across competing deadlines and influence cross-functionally and globally.
  • Relevant industry certification is not essential but is a plus e.g. the ICA.
