One in seven babies is born premature or sick and needing care on a neonatal unit – this isn’t what most parents expect for their baby. Bliss is the UK’s leading national charity for babies born premature or sick, and we are looking for an Information and Support Manager to lead our work helping parents to be confident, supported and involved in their baby’s hands-on care and decision-making.

Role Details

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to lead a team of dedicated staff and volunteers, providing high quality information and support to parents and carers facing the challenges of neonatal care. This is an important role focused on ‘Equity of Support’, one of Bliss’ key strategic aims. The Information and Support Manager leads the team responsible for empowering parents/carers to be partners in their baby’s care – a partnership which improves outcomes for babies.

The role works to understand the needs of parents and carers, especially those who face the biggest barriers to being partners in care, and uses this understanding to oversee the design, delivery and continuous improvement of information and support services for parents/carers during their neonatal experience.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Significant experience of delivering support and/or information services to people in need.
  • Significant experience of managing individuals and teams, with the qualities needed to be a trusted, supportive and ambitious manager.
  • Strong understanding of impactful service provision in the context of social and/or health inequalities.
  • Experience of service development, with strong understanding of one or more of the following:
  • Digital service development
  • Volunteer programming and development
  • Service-user involvement and co-production

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Bliss we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role, but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every aspect of the job description, we encourage you to apply to tell us what you can offer our organisation. You could be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
