We are looking for an AI Operations Manager to join our growing Business Operations team in London. Reporting directly to the VP, Business Operations, this person will own the automation and optimisation roadmap across Blis – partnering with teams from Sales and Client Services through to Finance, Marketing and Ad‑Operations to make the business run measurably better. AI and automation are central to how we do that. This is a hands‑on, cross‑functional role for a problem solver. You’ll sit with teams across Blis, map how the work actually gets done, identify the highest‑leverage opportunities, and ship solutions – sometimes by building yourself with modern AI tooling, sometimes by partnering with Product & Engineering. You’ll have a clear mandate to drive change across the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the automation and optimisation roadmap across Blis end‑to‑end: discovery, prioritisation, and delivery.
  • In partnership with the wider Business Operations team; map workflows across all operational teams, identify bottlenecks, and co‑design solutions that teams actually adopt.
  • Prototype and ship internal tools, scripts and automations using modern AI tooling (Claude, Cursor, n8n, Zapier, Make, Retool and similar) – biased to shipping useful work in weeks, not quarters.
  • Partner with Product & Engineering: know when to build it yourself and when to hand off, and bring rigorous specs (problem, users, requirements, success criteria) when handing over.
  • Run a lightweight intake and prioritisation process for inbound AI and automation requests; maintain a transparent, well‑sized backlog.
  • Define and track outcome metrics for every initiative – hours saved, errors avoided, throughput, revenue or margin impact.
  • Drive AI enablement across Blis through practical playbooks, office hours and an internal champions network, lifting the floor on day‑to‑day AI usage.
  • Set sensible guardrails with Legal, Security and IT around data handling, tool selection and responsible‑use standards so we move quickly without creating risk.
  • Publish and maintain a rolling six‑month roadmap with named owners, target outcomes and engineering dependencies, reviewed with the VP, Business Operations.
  • Work with the VP, Business Operations to define the governing best practice to be employed across all AI development.
  • Act as a go‑to internal expert on AI and automation tooling – evaluating new platforms, vendor demos and emerging capabilities relevant to Blis.
  • Champion the voice of internal users, identifying friction points across day‑to‑day work and translating them into prioritised builds.

Skills and Requirements

  • 5+ years in Business Operations, Strategy & Operations, RevOps, Internal Tools, or a similar cross‑functional role – with a clear track record of shipping solutions, not just diagnosing.
  • Comfortable building real things with modern AI tooling – Claude, Cursor, Zapier, n8n, Make, Retool, light scripting.
  • You don’t need to be a software engineer, but you do need to drive towards shipping solutions.
  • Strong process thinking. You can sit with a team, draw the workflow on a whiteboard, and find the bottleneck quickly.
  • Strong commercial instincts. You prioritise by impact and effort, not by what is interesting to build.
  • Cross‑functional credibility – equally comfortable with a finance lead, a sales director, a client services manager and an engineer.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to define success metrics, interpret performance data and make pragmatic trade‑offs.
  • Excellent written communicator. Your briefs, specs and updates are clear and concise.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and self‑directed. You can take a fuzzy problem, scope it, and run.

Preferred

  • Background as a software engineer who has moved into operations, product or strategy.
  • Experience in adtech, programmatic, martech or another data‑heavy platform business.
  • Hands‑on experience with workflow automation platforms such as n8n, Zapier, Make or Workato.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, HubSpot, NetSuite or similar core systems of record.
  • Experience setting up internal AI governance or responsible‑use guardrails, or having shipped LLM‑powered tools or agents in a real business context.
