Engineering Manager role at Blink – Employee Experience Platform
Location: London (Old Street office, 3 days/week). Reports to: CTO.
Blink is an employee app for frontline workers, with industry-leading engagement and a DAU of 99%. We are scaling our platform through precision, automation, and innovation. As part of a world-class engineering team, you will help shape the future of how we support frontline workers.
The Role
We\\\’re looking for a pragmatic, delivery-focused Engineering Manager to lead two Product & Engineering teams. You\\\’ll drive effective execution, uphold engineering standards, and support first-time managers in adjacent teams. Though this is not a hands-on coding role, your technical experience will help unblock teams when needed.
Responsibilities
- Lead two cross-functional Product & Engineering teams: ensure work is well-defined, prioritised, and continuously flowing for high-quality, timely delivery
- Champion Agile Execution: instil and evolve Agile and Kanban-based workflows; help teams break work into manageable increments, visualise progress, and improve flow efficiency
- Enable High-Quality Engineering: promote robust engineering practices—including code reviews, CI/CD, automated testing, and clear documentation—to support sustainable delivery
- Mentor New Leaders: coach and support team leads in adjacent groups taking their first steps into engineering management
- Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: work closely with Product, Design, and Platform stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities and outcomes
- Support When Needed: provide technical input to triage urgent issues and unblock teams when necessary
Qualifications
- Proven leadership: experience managing multiple engineering teams, ideally in a fast-paced, product-led environment
- Delivery-oriented mindset: track record of delivering complex features or initiatives on time and helping others do the same
- Agile & Kanban fluency: familiarity with Kanban and Agile principles, including WIP limits, cycle time measurement, and continuous improvement
- Engineering acumen: strong foundation in modern software development practices with ability to engage credibly in technical discussions
- Collaborative leadership: team-first, low-ego approach; ability to balance team health with accountability and focus
