The Opportunity
We are a long-established, family-run blinds and shutters business, and we’re looking for a sales-driven Showroom Consultant to join our Basingstoke showroom. This is not a passive retail role. It is a customer-facing sales position for someone who enjoys speaking with customers, understanding what they actually need, and recommending the right solution for their home.
You will be expected to hold mature, professional conversations, ask the right questions, recommend products that are genuinely suitable, and confidently help customers move towards an informed decision.
What This Role Really Involves
- Understanding what the customer is trying to achieve
- Asking effective questions before making a recommendation
- Recommending blinds or shutters that are genuinely fit for purpose
- Explaining options clearly, simply, and honestly
- Confidently asking for the sale when the solution is right
- Taking responsibility for both accuracy and customer experience
This role suits someone who enjoys advising, guiding, and closing — not someone who simply waits for the customer to make all the decisions alone.
Working Hours
- Part-time role, typically around 25 hours per week
- Core showroom hours with Saturday working required
- Some flexibility may be available for the right candidate
- Occasional visits to customers’ homes may be required as part of the role
Earnings
- Competitive hourly rate based on the Real Living Wage
- Performance-based sales bonus, paid monthly (in arrears)
- Five-Star Review Bonus, paid from day one
- £20 for every five-star review where you are personally named
- £10 for every four-star review where you are personally named
- Paid in the very next pay packet
- No cap on earnings
- Strong performers can significantly increase their overall earnings through a combination of sales performance, accuracy, and excellent customer service
What You’ll Be Doing In the Showroom
- Welcoming customers and understanding their requirements
- Recommending suitable blinds or shutters
- Explaining options clearly and honestly
- Confidently asking for the sale
- Recording specifications accurately
