Something so simple — and something many of us don’t think twice about — suddenly becomes a real barrier, affecting independence, confidence, and overall wellbeing. That’s where you come in. As a volunteer driver, you make an enormous difference by helping someone regain a little bit of that independence. Whether it’s getting to a social event, an important appointment, a trip into the community or even a day out somewhere special, you’ll be opening doors that might otherwise stay closed.
This role supports veterans to attend a social group once a month on a Thursday morning in Houghton Regis. By giving your time, you’ll be helping to reduce loneliness and social isolation, offering not just a lift but reliable companionship and support. Why we want you: Volunteer drivers are essential in helping our veterans get from A to B. Whether it’s collecting them from their homes to bring them to our lunch clubs, driving them to appointments, or getting them out for a day trip, our driving volunteers enable our veterans to do the things they need to do.
What you will be doing:
- Transport veterans to various locations
- Provide passengers with full details of journey e.g. pick up and arrival times
- Guide veterans who don’t have an escort
