We are expanding our software engineering team to meet the requirements of a demanding and exciting product roadmap. At Blighter, we develop all the software required to use our range of radar products, from the radar’s onboard processing software to the external command and control. To deliver the capabilities that our next generation radars require, we are undertaking a program of extensive software development.
The role involves the design and development of software across our radar systems, including external radar control systems and interfaces. We will also be developing interfaces to third party security and surveillance systems and bringing broad improvements to software capabilities and the user experience. The right candidate will bring some relevant software industry experience, be enthusiastic and professional, and interested in working on new technologies and techniques. Key responsibilities- Design and develop software for Blighter’s radar systems.
- Design and develop software to aid integration with third party surveillance and security systems.
- Design and develop software to improve and enhance our users’ experiences.
- Contribute to the improvement of software engineering techniques within the business.
- 5+ years software development experience.
- Good understanding and experience of object-oriented software design.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Creative and analytic problem-solving skills.
- Effective at working directly with end customers and users.
- Software based degree, or an engineering/science degree with software bias.
- Experience in the development of security/defence command and control (C2) software.
- Experience of using and manipulating GIS (Geographic Information System) data.
- Experience working with or knowledge of SQL databases.
- Knowledge and experience of effective UI design and UX best practice.
- Good understanding of real-time software design and development.
- Experience with embedded Linux and embedded software development.
- Experience with machine learning software techniques and classification methodologies.
- Experience and understanding of C++.
- Experience with Python or another software scripting language.
- Mathematical and statistical analysis skills.
