Job Description

Main purpose of job:

Creating regular, and ad hoc reports and visualisations that support the monitoring of underwriting and operational performance.

Production and analysis of business data for internal and external (e.g. regulatory) purposes.

Contributing to the development of the Group Data Strategy, working with the Operations, IT and Data teams to enhance the quality of reporting and supporting business MI ‘self-service.’

Key tasks:

  1. Creation and maintenance of relevant Underwriting Power BI dashboards that can be relied upon by Underwriting teams to assist with portfolio management.
  2. Contribute to the accurate data cataloguing of key data assets.
  3. Work with relevant underwriting and operational functions in the development of efficient internal and external reporting.
  4. Contribute toward a framework of Power BI ‘best practice’ working with data engineers and relevant functions to enhance the transparency, timeliness and accessibility of relevant business data.
  5. Contribute to regulatory and Lloyd’s reporting when required (e.g. Lloyd’s PMD).
  6. Work with underwriting data, developing a strong understanding of business requirements.

  1. Good analytical, mathematical and organisational skills.
  2. Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  3. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  4. Ability to translate business requirements into data solutions, interpreting and presenting insights to stakeholders clearly.

Key technical skills, knowledge and professional qualifications required:

  1. Strong proficiency in building Power BI reports, dashboards, and data modelling utilising DAX, SQL, and power query.
  2. An understanding of the Lloyd’s/London Market insurance processes and practices.
  3. An understanding of data governance principles, including data ownership, quality and compliance.
  4. Developing knowledge of key in-house insurance Systems, such as policy administration systems and bordereaux management tools.
