Lead the technical delivery of a portfolio of live residential developments from inception to completion, owning design, coordination, statutory approvals, and the timely release of information that keeps construction moving. You’ll act as the senior technical point of reference across multiple concurrent schemes, directing external consultants, securing approvals (S104, S38, S278, NHBC, planning conditions), and partnering collaboratively with Land, Planning, Commercial, and Construction to drive buildability, value engineering, and compliance. You’ll also help shape the technical standards, standard house types, and specifications that will support the business as it grows. This is a senior, autonomous role for someone who has delivered complex residential sites at scale and wants ownership of technical risk, programme, and quality across a growing pipeline.
What we are looking for:
- Degree (or HND/HNC with substantial senior-level experience) in Design, Construction, Engineering, or similar discipline.
- MCIAT (or equivalent chartered membership of ICE, CIAT, CIOB) preferred.
- Minimum 15 years’ technical experience within a residential housebuilder, including a demonstrable track record at senior technical manager level is desirable.
- Demonstrated success delivering technical information on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of cost impacts of design decisions.
- Strong analytical and mathematical ability.
- Able to work under pressure and meet demanding deadlines.
- Team-focused mindset.
- High level of professionalism, organisation, and attention to detail.
- Principal Designer experience/qualifications (CDM 2015).
- Experience managing technical fees and services budgets.
- Knowledge of digital document management systems.
