We’re looking for a reliable and detail‑oriented Finance & Operations Assistant to support the smooth running of Blend’s financial operations. This is a part‑time, UK‑based role, ideally suited to someone who enjoys hands‑on finance work and likes keeping things accurate, organised, and running on time.
You’ll be responsible for maintaining our records in Xero, supporting VAT returns, managing accounts receivable and payable, and acting as a key link between the business and our UK and US accountants. You will also support our Events delivery team to manage costs and control spend with CFO and CEO. This role works best for someone who enjoys being in the office, collaborating with the team, and bringing structure to a growing business.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records in Xero
- Own accounts payable and receivable, including raising invoices and processing supplier payments
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, invoices, and receipts
- Track outstanding invoices and support payment follow‑ups
- Ensure all financial data is clean, consistent, and well‑organised
- Support the preparation of VAT returns (with Accountant)
- Ensure receipts and invoices are correctly captured, coded, and stored
- Support compliance with UK accounting and reporting requirements
- Liaise with UK and US accountants, ensuring all required receipts, invoices, and reconciliations are provided on time
- Support month‑end and year‑end processes
- Respond to finance‑related queries from accountants and partners
- Maintain organised digital and physical records
- Support finance processes related to memberships, events, suppliers, and partners
- Support cost control of events and travel costs
- Identify simple process improvements to keep things running smoothly
- Assist with ad‑hoc finance and operations tasks as needed
- UK‑based with the right to work in the UK
- Experience in a finance, bookkeeping, or operations support role
- Strong working knowledge of Xero
- Experience supporting VAT returns
- Understanding of accounts payable and receivable
- Excellent attention to detail and organisation
- Comfortable working with external accountants
- Happy working 2 days per week, ideally from our Chippenham office
- Experience in an SME or growing business
- Exposure to multi‑entity or international accounting
- Confidence suggesting small process improvements
- Xero is accurate and fully reconciled
- VAT returns are timely and well‑supported
- Receipts and invoices are easy to find and correctly coded
- Accountants get the information they need, when they need it
