This is a permanent, full-time opportunity working Monday to Friday within day hours, offering a salary up to £60,000.00 plus a car allowance, based on your skills and experience.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Responsible for the technical & maintenance strategy implementation for an automation cluster of fulfilment centres, ensuring safe, compliant and cost-effective automation performance that supports business targets.
  • Support maintenance managers in drawing up budgets for regions and sites. Challenge them to stay within these budgets, with a variance of +/- 3%.
  • Define asset life-cycle strategy and long-term replacement plan in line with ROI hurdles.
  • Implement corporate maintenance standards, statutory inspection regimes, and ISO-55000 asset-management principles across all sites.
  • Conduct periodic site audits; close actions within 30 days.
  • Establish and develop a technical community with the aim of aligning practices and methodologies, as well as sharing best maintenance practices (1 meeting/month).
  • Define the maintenance KPI’s to be monitored. Consolidate and validate KPI pack with maintenance coordinators (uptime, cost/throughput, energy, safety).
  • Benchmark sites and drive cross-site Kaizen projects to deliver ≥ 10 % YoY downtime reduction.
  • Set competency frameworks; mentor Coordinators technical support; develop talent pipeline.
  • Develop staff through technical training modules (continuing education, SOPs, etc.).
  • Manage the monitoring of certifications and accreditations for technical services personnel.
  • Lead crisis response for critical incidents (24/7 on-call escalation tier where necessary).
  • Collect and validate support service contracts. Monitor performance during contract review meetings.
  • Pilot new technologies (condition-based monitoring, AGV/AMR, Pick-Robots) and scale proven solutions.
  • Interface with central engineering, IT and data-science teams on automation upgrades.
  • Approve proposals for technical improvements and developments for sites in their region or area of responsibility and ensure that all parameters are taken into account in the adaptations (safety, documentation, maintenance plan, information feedback for dashboards, etc.).
  • Drive best practice sharing amongst sites but also clusters.
  • Present technical roadmap Head of Technical & Maintenance; align with supply-chain, finance and safety stakeholders.
  • Be a key player in the management of automation projects, both in the engineering phase and in the installation monitoring phase, from FAT to SAT and operational testing.
  • Establish requirements for support contracts and spare parts. Negotiate contracts and monitor orders.

Profile

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering (Robotics is a plus).
  • 8+ years’ experience in automated warehousing or high-volume environments.
  • Multi-site leadership experience.
  • Proven experience with budgets and capital projects.
  • Strong troubleshooting and system support skills (automation).
  • Experience with CMMS and data/BI tools.
  • Lean / Six Sigma knowledge preferred.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Hands-on, analytical, and solution-driven mindset.
  • Flexible and able to support during project phases.
