We are looking for a UK based Technical Animator to join Blazing Griffin for a 6-month contract to work on an exciting original IP. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a talented, friendly and highly creative team.
In the role of Technical Animator, you will be responsible for our motion pipeline from creating custom rigs, optimising workflows with scripts, working with the code and design teams to implement in game.
Within this role you will:
- Facilitate the work of the character and animation team
- Have input into the whole character process working alongside modellers and animators
- Create custom rigs in Maya with tools and workflows to streamline the animation to game process
- Be the main point of contact for implementing game animation and characters
- Set up characters and animations in Unity and collaborate with code and design teams
- Implement a shared facial animation system in Unity
- Develop a modular character system in Unity
- Animation retargeting in Maya and Unity
- Assist in the planning of work with the Art Director and Producer
- Document animation to game workflows for the project
What we’re looking for:
- 5 years game development experience
- A solid knowledge of Maya
- Scripting skills in Mel, Python and C#
- Unity experience is a must
- A solid understanding of implementing animation systems with performance in mind
- A portfolio which demonstrates core skills in rigging as well as quality animation
- A sound understanding of the principles of animation
