As a Lead at Blazing Griffin, you’ll join as part of our team and be able to make a significant and real impacts to our next titles. This is a lead position, ideal for someone who has shipped console games and ready to take full ownership of delivering visual excellence of the game with high-quality 3D art production. Our BAFTA award winning studio is well established and based in heart of Glasgow, with great public transport access as well as free parking. Everyone has access to excellent facilities, studio perks and social events.
As the Lead Artist, you will be key in creating the art style and concepts for our titles and direct the production of all visual assets and materials throughout production.
On a day-to-day basis, you will
- Devise – and be the evangelist for – the artistic vision of our games.
- Work collaboratively with the wider development team; iteratively experimenting, balancing and improving processes.
- Take ownership of direction and quality of art in our games, providing detailed feedback on art direction and ideas for improvement, upholding development standards every step of the way.
- Develop both realistic and stylised 3D art, depending on the needs of the project.
- Collaborate with the art team to establish and maintain a cohesive visual style across all assets.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to the art team and contribute to the overall growth of the team.
Must Be Able To Demonstrate The Following
- Experience in a leadership position, having shipped multiple titles through from concept to completion.
- Previous hands-on line leadership and development experience of an art team.
- Experience of the Unity engine (Unreal is a plus).
- A leader with exceptional communication skills, able to motivate and inspire others. Experience working with publishers and pitching will be a distinct advantage.
- Expert knowledge of a wide range of art applications, including Maya, 3DS Max, Modo, Z-Brush, 3DCoat, Mudbox, and Photoshop.
- Basic animation skills or knowledge.
- Good knowledge of and experience in multi-format game development.
- A thorough understanding of the game development process and agile project management methodologies.
- A creative nature with strong problem-solving skills.
- Expert knowledge of artistic principles across a variety of styles.
- Good knowledge of current game trends, as well as emerging technology and techniques for artists.
