Hours: Mon-Fri (however there is a requirement to be flexible and to cover the 4-on 4-off shifts (Days: 06:00-18:00 & Nights: 18:00-06:00) as and when required)

Blazer's Fuels Limited, a trading subsidiary of Newbridge Energy Limited, manufacture and supply premium wood fuels which are all ENplus, BSL, Woodsure and HETAS certified. We only manufacture our premium pellets and market leading fuel logs from 100% virgin British wood residue from sawmill activity. Here at Blazers, we have a passion for producing sustainable and renewable energy using biomass Combined Heat and Power.

The Role

The main purpose of the role is to support operations in the day-to-day production of wood fuel and utility products and the generation of renewable electricity for onsite use and export to the National Grid. You will carry out preventive maintenance tasks to ensure highest levels of equipment availability. You will apply continuous improvement techniques, seeking to improve Mean Time Between Failure and Mean Time to Repair, maximising plant uptime. Working to and achieving all agreed objectives and KPI's.

Duties:

  • Attending and repairing plant breakdowns
  • Carrying out preventive maintenance tasks
  • Ensuring root cause problem solving techniques are being used following breakdowns
  • Assisting with identification of losses and breakdowns, thus establishing, and closing out corrective action plans to improve efficiency
  • Updating planned preventative maintenance schedules where required
  • Attending team meetings and contributing to continuous improvement and total preventative maintenance within the team
  • Effectively maintaining shadow boards and spare parts availability
  • Effective proving of equipment following all and any maintenance
  • Assisting production teams to achieve the required levels of output
  • Adhering to the Company's health, safety, and environmental policy
  • Completing any other reasonable tasks or requests as required.

About you:

Essential:

Qualifications: Apprentice trained multiskilled engineer 50/50 or 40/60 bias Mechanical / Electrical. A recognised craft or technical qualification i.e. C&G/BTech/ONC/HNC in engineering or equivalent.

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Mechanical engineering fitting: bearings couplings gearboxes etc
  • Mechanical fault finding and repair
  • Basic welding (MIG)
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Electrical experience low voltage equipment max 415vac
  • Ability to perform basic work on PLC and relay logic (programming not essential)
  • Single phase, Three Phase inverter DOL and Star Delta motor control experience.
  • Ability to do basic electrical fault finding
  • An understanding of Total Preventative Maintenance techniques, to include FMEA and condition monitoring
  • Lean knowledge i.e. Kanban, SMED and knowledge of PPM systems.

  • A self-driven individual
  • The ability to work in a small team and on own initiative as you may eventually be the only engineer on site during either day shifts or 4 on 4 off nights and weekends
  • Flexible and prepared to assist colleagues where required
  • A team player and prepared to pass on experience and knowledge to train apprentice engineers and production personnel
  • Due to the location of the site at Ruthin, Denbighshire you must have a full UK driving licence.
