Project Quantity Surveyor

About the Role:

My client is a leading main contractor known for delivering complex, high-profile developments across London. They are currently seeking a skilled Project Quantity Surveyor to oversee the commercial management of a landmark residential scheme, ensuring effective cost control, procurement, and contract administration throughout the lifecycle of the project.

Project Details:

The development is a £200 million mixed-use scheme comprising over 400 apartments across seven blocks, including a 33-storey tower. The project is being constructed above an operational multi-storey car park, adding further complexity to the build. It also includes commercial units, retail space, and significant public realm enhancements.

Main Responsibilities:

• Manage the procurement of subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers in accordance with budgetary requirements.
• Oversee tender analysis and provide recommendations for contract awards.
• Administer contracts, manage claims and variations, and ensure timely resolution of commercial issues.
• Take responsibility for subcontractor and supplier final account negotiations.
• Attend design and progress meetings, advising on commercial implications and ensuring cost-effective decision-making.
• Act in a senior commercial role where necessary, supporting the wider commercial team.

Required Experience:

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Project Quantity Surveyor, ideally within a main contracting environment.
• Track record of working on large-scale residential or mixed-use developments in the UK.
• In-depth knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to manage project finances independently.
• Understanding of Building Regulations and NHBC Standards.
• BSc in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• MRICS qualified or actively working towards chartership.
