Salary up to £70,000 + 25 Days Holiday + Pension

Blaymires Recruitment is representing an established roofing and cladding contractor based near Southampton that is searching for an experienced Estimator or Estimator/Surveyor to join the business. The company has been operating for more than 25 years and delivers commercial and industrial roofing, cladding and building-envelope projects with values of up to £2 million. Due to continued growth, this is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in roofing, cladding or wider construction estimating to take ownership of tenders and help secure profitable new projects.

The Role

Working closely with the directors, contracts team, suppliers and clients, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and commercially competitive quotations for roofing and cladding projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing tender documents, drawings and specifications
  • Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions
  • Completing material and labour take-offs
  • Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations
  • Identifying project risks, opportunities and value-engineering options
  • Liaising with clients, architects, surveyors and main contractors
  • Attending site visits and pre-tender meetings when required
  • Maintaining accurate tender records and following up submitted quotations
  • Supporting the handover of secured projects to the contracts and delivery teams
  • Developing strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors

The Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous estimating experience within roofing, cladding, façades or the wider building-envelope sector
  • A good understanding of commercial or industrial roofing and cladding systems
  • The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documents
  • Strong numerical, analytical and commercial skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • The confidence to work independently and manage multiple tenders
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and relevant estimating software
  • A full UK driving licence
