Blaymires Recruitment is representing an established specialist contractor based near Salisbury, Wiltshire, which is searching for an Estimator to join its growing team.

The company has been operating for over 30 years and undertakes the construction, refurbishment, repair and maintenance of swimming pools across Southern England.

You will support the preparation of accurate quotations for new-build and refurbishment projects.

Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will review client enquiries, interpret drawings and specifications, obtain supplier and subcontractor prices, calculate material and labour costs and prepare quotations for clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate with one to two years’ industry experience or an Estimator or Sales Estimator looking to develop their career within a supportive specialist contractor.

  • Role and Responsibilities
  • Review incoming enquiries, drawings, specifications and project information.
  • Assist with preparing estimates and quotations for new-build and refurbishment projects.
  • Complete measurements and material take-offs from drawings and specifications.
  • Calculate material, labour, plant and subcontractor costs.
  • Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with clients to clarify project requirements and obtain additional information.
  • Assist with producing clear and detailed tender submissions.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotations and supplier information.
  • Work closely with the construction, service and operations teams.
  • Assist with the handover of successful quotations to the delivery team.
  • Build an understanding of specialist construction methods, equipment and associated mechanical systems.

Requirements

  • Previous experience within construction, estimating, quantity surveying or a related discipline.
  • Applications are welcomed from graduates with one to two years’ relevant experience.
  • A construction-related degree, Higher National Certificate or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.
  • Able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Good numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to visit sites when required.
  • A full UK driving licence.
