Blaymires Recruitment is representing a leading building contractor based near Hedge End, Southampton, who is searching for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join the business. Operating as a main contractor, the company delivers new build and refurbishment projects across the commercial, industrial, education, MOD, and residential sectors, with typical project values up to £5M.
This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor or a Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to step up into a leadership role.
The role of Managing Quantity Surveyor:
- You will manage the commercial performance of all projects across the business.
- You will provide commercial support and manage a team of Quantity Surveyors and will be involved in running projects when required.
- You will assist the Project Managers & Surveyors to allow management of projects and commercial risk, ensuring that financial performance meets or exceeds profitability targets.
Key responsibilities as Managing Quantity Surveyor:
- Report to the Managing Director and work alongside the pre-construction team.
- Oversee the project's procurement and management of subcontractor packages.
- Deal with final accounts / any dispute resolution that may arise.
- Mentor junior members of the Surveying team and be involved in their professional development.
Key Requirements for this Managing Quantity Surveyor:
- Hold a BSc Quantity Surveying or HNC.
- Have experience working as the commercial lead on construction projects.
- Have experience managing projects from pre-construction through to final account.
- Be proficient in administering various forms of contracts, including JCT or NEC.
- Have the full right to work in the UK and be happy to commute throughout the South of England.
