Quantity Surveyor – Bill of Quantities / Pre-Construction Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh Salary up to £70,000 + Car Allowance + 25 days Holiday + Pension Blaymires Recruitment is representing an established regional construction contractor delivering a wide range of construction, refurbishment and specialist projects across the South of England.
The business operates across sectors including healthcare, education, community and commercial, delivering projects ranging in value from approximately £1M to £20M.
They have built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality schemes, often within complex and live environments.
Due to a continued strong workload, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor with strong measurement, take-off and Bill of Quantities preparation experience.
The Role This position will suit a technically strong Quantity Surveyor who is confident preparing detailed Bills of Quantities from architectural, structural and services information.
The successful candidate will work closely with the estimating, pre-construction and commercial teams, providing accurate measurement and cost information to support tenders and live projects.
A key part of the role will involve taking projects from drawings and specifications through to a fully measured and structured Bill of Quantities.
Candidates may come from a main contracting, consultancy or cost management background, provided they have strong practical experience in detailed measurement and Bill of Quantities preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities from drawings and specifications.
- Undertake accurate measurement and taking-off for a range of construction projects.
- Review architectural, structural and M&E drawings to establish scope and quantities.
- Prepare schedules of works, quantities and tender documentation.
- Ensure tender documentation accurately reflects the project scope.
- Identify discrepancies, omissions and potential commercial risks within tender information.
- Work closely with estimators, project managers and the wider commercial team.
- Assist with value engineering and alternative construction solutions where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation.
- Support projects during pre-construction and, where required, through the delivery phase. Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator / Quantity Surveyor, Pre-Construction Quantity Surveyor or Cost Consultant.
- Strong experience producing Bills of Quantities.
- Excellent measurement and taking-off skills.
- Experience preparing Bills of Quantities directly from drawings and specifications.
- A good understanding of construction methods and building technology.
- Experience working with NRM2, SMM7 or similar methods of measurement.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills. On Offer
