Our Patient Solutions Team are proud to provide the wheelchair service on behalf of the NHS in Rotherham. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Lead Wheelchair Therapist to join our team.

The role

As Clinical Lead Wheelchair Therapist, you will deliver wheelchair services to the highest clinical and ethical standards. You will provide training and supervision to students, less experienced colleagues and service users.

Key duties:

  • Identifying and prescribing appropriate equipment from an agreed matrix based on growing clinical knowledge and experience to meet the Service User’s clinical needs and their agreed aims & objectives
  • Leading the wheelchair team in agreed area of speciality
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) at all levels to ensure the most appropriate and effective treatment for service users
  • Ensuring service delivery using agreed processes to meet Key Performance Indicators
  • Developing and maintaining protocols, standards, systems and administrative functions to ensure the seamless delivery of services to service users
  • Working within the company framework to ensure cost effective product provision
  • Leading the team in all aspects of clinical governance with the support of the Area Manager
  • Participating in clinical audit and clinical research, liaising with both clinical and technical employees
  • Providing training to MDT/referrers/other healthcare professionals/Blatchford team in the field of wheelchairs
  • Assisting Service Manager in budget control

What are we looking for?

As Clinical Lead Wheelchair Therapist, you will have the following:

Key skills:

  • BSc Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • HCPC Registered
  • Experience in a wide range of wheelchair provision including paediatrics
  • Experience in cost effective service provision
  • Experience of provision of special seating
  • Able to prioritise and manage your own workload
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Competent Microsoft Office application skills
  • Ability to manage difficult and challenging situations in sensitive situations
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to the demands of the service
