Working in partnership with the NHS, Blatchford provides the orthotic service across Lancashire and Morcombe Bay. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Orthotist, specialising in paediatrics, to support our clinics across the region. Your key focus will be on our clinics in Lancashire, Kendal and Barrow-in-Furness. This is a highly varied role where you will treat a wide range of patients and work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary clinical team.
The role: As an Orthotist you will use your clinical skill and experience to contribute to the delivery of a first class Orthotic Clinical Service. This role is specialising in Paediatrics; you will have the opportunity to be involved with orthopaedic MDT to support DDH and Ponseti pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting a caseload of clients with a wide range of complex conditions and recommending the best course of intervention.
- Effectively communicating with informed patient consent, discussing the reasons for the prescription.
- Providing counselling, advice, and support as necessary to maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure understanding of condition.
- Assessing, measuring, casting, fitting, supplying, reviewing, and adjusting orthoses as required.
- Maintaining appropriate clinical notes and records.
- Providing training in the field of Orthotics at all levels.
What are we looking for?
- Qualified in Prosthetics/Orthotics.
- HCPC registration.
- Member of BAPO/ISPO (desirable).
- Experience in a wide range of orthotic provision including paediatrics, orthopaedics, and footwear.
- Able to prioritise and manage workload.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of communicating with colleagues at all levels.
- Be able to manage difficult, challenging, and sensitive situations.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills.
