We have a brand new and exciting opportunity for a Materials Management Lead to join our planning team based at our Head Office in Basingstoke.
The role involves:
- End-to-end management of parts supply to support the demand plan and final assembly build schedule, covering both externally sourced components and internally manufactured materials.
- Overseeing tactical purchasing and supply execution, managing the daily workload of buyers and ensuring supplier and subcontractor performance.
- Ensuring continuity of supply across external vendors and subcontractors, along with internal supply streams.
- Driving alignment of materials supply dates, quantities, and priorities within the ERP, ensuring system signals accurately reflect reality.
- Supporting and expediting parts through vendors, subcontractors, and internal inspection as required to protect the build plan.
- Acting as the key escalation point for decommits, shortages, ERP exceptions and supply risks.
- Managing supplier and subcontractor relationships.
- Supporting and managing indirect procurement where it impacts materials availability or continuity of supply.
- Supporting resolution of commercial and transactional issues impacting supply.
- Owning inventory management processes.
What are we looking for?
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Operations Management, or related field.
- Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems with proven ability to manage purchasing and inventory workflows.
- Evidence of continuous professional development in supply chain or purchasing disciplines.
- Proven experience managing purchasing and inventory in a manufacturing, engineering, or fast-moving operational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and stock optimisation.
- Experience with root-cause analysis relating to shortages, overstock, and supply disruptions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- High level of organisation, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across operations, planning, finance, and suppliers.
- Proactive approach with the ability to identify risks early and implement mitigation plans.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation ability.
- Demonstrated accountability, resilience, and structured follow-through.
