We are thrilled to have recently opened a canteen at our brand-new facility in Basingstoke and are looking for a Canteen Assistant to help make it a success.

Hours: 20 hours per week, 1pm - 6pm, Monday - Friday. This role is initially offered on a temporary basis.

The Role: As Canteen Assistant, you will ensure the efficient operation of the onsite canteen, providing a quality service to all users. Key duties include:

  • Basic food preparation.
  • Setting up and breaking down food preparation area.
  • Cleaning and sanitising food preparation equipment.
  • Taking orders and serving Blatchford employees and visitors, ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Ensuring canteen area is kept clean, tidy, sanitised and ready for use.
  • Keeping track of food and supply inventory levels, ordering new food and supplies, rotating food inventory.
  • Managing food purchasing, storage and maintaining kitchen equipment.
  • Ensuring smooth operation of the canteen.

What are we looking for? As Canteen Assistant, you will have the following qualifications:

  • GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent).
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Previous experience of working within the catering industry.
  • A good understanding of food, health and safety regulations.
  • Good standard of personal hygiene.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
