Blanchards Law is expanding, and we are excited to launch a new Private Client department specialising in Wills, Probate, Estate Planning, Trusts, LPAs. To support this growth, we are seeking an experienced Private Client Paralegal to work closely with a Senior Solicitor in establishing and developing this key practice area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive paralegal with at least three years’ experience in private client work who is looking to take on greater responsibility and play an integral role in a growing department.
About the Role – What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a motivated and organised Private Client Paralegal with strong experience in Wills, Probate, Estate Planning, Trusts, LPAs. You will support the Senior Solicitor with a varied caseload while assisting with the development of the new department. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong client care skills, and the ability to manage multiple matters efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the Senior Solicitor with wills, probate, and estate administration matters
- Preparing and drafting wills, lasting powers of attorney (LPAs), and probate documentation
- Supporting the administration of estates, including asset identification, correspondence with financial institutions, and preparation of estate accounts
- Assisting with probate applications and HMRC inheritance tax documentation (IHT205, IHT400)
- Managing client files, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Liaising with clients, beneficiaries, financial institutions, and other professional advisers
- Conducting legal research and assisting with contested probate or Court of Protection matters where required
- Supporting the development and organisation of the new Private Client department
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in Private Client / Wills & Probate
- Strong experience supporting probate applications and estate administration
- Experience drafting Wills and LPAs
- Knowledge of inheritance tax processes and HMRC forms
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Strong client communication and relationship management skills
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and work independently when required
- Proficiency in case management systems and legal documentation
Desirable Skills
- Experience assisting with trust administration
- Exposure to Court of Protection matters
- Familiarity with contentious or contested probate matters
- Working towards a STEP qualification or equivalent private client training
- Interest in developing a long-term career within private client law
