Role purpose
Reporting to the Store Manager, the Duty Manager will help drive growth within the Monkmoor SPAR store, supporting the Store Manager and leading a team to deliver outstanding customer service, contributing to store sales and profitability through Brilliant Basics, Moments of Wow, Food For Later, Food For Now.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager to ensure a safe, legal and high performing store, taking overall responsibility during Duty Manager shifts.
- Assist the Store Manager to deliver all store operations, objectives and KPIs.
- Coach and support colleagues, developing a motivated and empowered team with a positive management style.
- Carry out performance management and absence management as appropriate.
- Occasional opening/closing of the store, colleague safety and stock/cash security/accountability during shifts.
- Carry out cash reconciliations, voids, refunds and other management tasks for till colleagues.
- Lead by example to provide an exceptional customer experience and help differentiate the store from competitors.
- Collaborate with colleagues to engage with and support the local community of Monkmoor.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and processes.
Duty Manager Skills Required
- Previous management or supervisor experience within a food retail or fast-paced operation.
- Committed to delivering exceptional customer service standards.
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise effectively.
- Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels.
- Decisive, action-focused and able to take appropriate decisions.
- Committed to collaborative working.
- Enthusiastic, flexible with a positive attitude.
- Willingness to develop own skills and apply learning to improve performance.
