Duty Manager for SPAR Gillingham â a dynamic role to drive success and growth in our awardâwinning store.
We are a dynamic and innovative retail, wholesale and foodservice business. We own 243 SPAR convenience stores, employ more than 5,000 people and have a turnover of ÂŁ1.3 billion.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Store Manager, the Duty Manager will cover all operational hours, supporting the Store Manager in leading and motivating a team of colleagues. This role ensures excellent customer service, contributes to store sales and profitability, and upholds the company's values across 'Brilliant Basics, Moments of Wow, Food For Later, Food For Now'.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager to maintain a safe, legal and highâperforming store, taking overall responsibility during duty shifts.
- Assist in delivering all store operations, objectives and KPI's.
- Manage, coach and support colleagues; develop a motivated and empowered team through a positive, engaging management style.
- Carry out performance management and absence management as appropriate.
- Occasionally open/close the store, ensuring colleague safety and stock/cash security.
- Perform cash reconciliations, voids, refunds and other till management tasks.
- Act as a role model, leading the team to provide an exceptional customer experience.
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote the store and engage the local community of Gillingham.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and processes.
Duty Manager Skills Required
- Previous management or supervisor experience within food retail or a similar fastâpaced operation.
