Role Overview: Duty Manager at the award‑winning Elton SPAR store. Salary £13.75 p/h. 24 hours per week, flexible over four shifts, varying shifts on a rota basis. Reporting to the Store Manager, you will support and lead the store team, ensure compliance, drive sales and profitability, and represent the store to the local community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Store Manager to ensure a safe, legal, and high‑performing store, while taking overall responsibility during Duty Manager shifts.
  • Assist the Store Manager in delivering all store operations, objectives and KPI’s.
  • Manage, coach and support colleagues, fostering a motivated and empowered team through positive, engaging management.
  • Carry out performance management and absence management as appropriate.
  • Occasionally open/close the store, ensuring colleague safety, stock, cash security and accountability during shifts.
  • Perform cash reconciliations, voids, refunds and other ‘management’ tasks for till colleagues.
  • Model exceptional customer service, leading the team to create a memorable experience that sets us apart from competitors.
  • Work with colleagues to promote the store by identifying and acting on opportunities to engage with the local community of Elton.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and processes.
Duty Manager Skills Required:
  • Previous management or supervisory experience in a food retail or similar fast‑paced operation.
  • Commitment to achieving and sustaining exceptional customer service standards.
  • Excellent planning, organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong communication and influence at all levels.
