Role Overview

Reporting to the Store Manager, the Duty Manager (Burbage) will help drive growth within the Burbage SPAR store. As a member of the leadership team, you will support the Store Manager in leading and motivating a team of colleagues, ensuring excellent customer service, and contributing to store sales and profitability through our core pillars: Brilliant Basics, Moments of Wow, Food For Later and Food For Now.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager to ensure a safe, legal and high performing store, whilst taking overall responsibility for the entire store during Duty Manager shifts.
• Assist the Store Manager to deliver all store operations, objectives and KPIs.
• Manage, coach and support colleagues, fostering a motivated and empowered team through a positive, engaging management style.
• Carry out performance management and absence management as appropriate.
• Occasionally open or close the store, ensuring colleague safety and stock/cash security and accountability during shifts.
• Carry out cash reconciliations, voids, refunds and other management tasks for till colleagues.
• Serve as a role model and lead the team to provide an exceptional customer experience that sets us apart from our competitors.
• Work with colleagues to promote the store by identifying and acting on opportunities to engage with and support the local community of Burbage.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures and processes.

Duty Manager Skills Required

• Previous management or supervisory experience within a food retail or similar fast‑paced operation.
• Committed to achieving and sustaining exceptional customer service standards.
• Able to plan, organise and prioritise effectively.
• Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels.
• Decisive and able to take appropriate action.
• Committed to promoting collaborative working.
