We have a new opportunity in our Cardiff office for an experienced Trust Adviser within our Trust Management and Advisory Team – part of our highly regarded Succession and Tax Practice Group. The role will ideally suit someone with extensive knowledge and experience within Trust Management - potentially gained from working within a Finance organisation or Trust company.
You will work with our Trust Manager, Tax Technicians and other members of our Succession and Tax Team to support our partners in advising our various trustee (both professional and lay) clients. We have a wide client base and broad geographic reach, and the position presents a great opportunity for someone with expansive knowledge of Trusts to develop and apply their expertise within the framework of a legal firm.
Our wider Succession and Tax Practice Group provides advice on the full range of private client matters including estate planning, Wills and advisory, Court of Protection, Estate Administration and Trust Management.
We adopt smart working practices with a typical week involving 2 or 3 days in the office - and the balance remote. We are happy to consider candidates who require part-time or reduced hours (minimum of 30 hours per week).
Ad hoc trust advisory work, such as advising trustees and beneficiaries on:
- tax planning for trustees and beneficiaries (IHT and CGT)
- planning for trusts nearing the end of the trust period
- implementing planning together with other members of our Succession and Tax Practice Group
- Monitoring deadlines on trusts such as ten yearly charges and beneficial entitlements
- Trust Accounting (with support from others in the team)
- Inheritance Tax returns for trusts
- Supporting our Tax technicians with the implementation of particular tax/trust related projects – e.g. Assisting in the training and mentoring of junior members of staff and assisting our partners with disseminating technical trust know-how and team knowledge.
Our encouragement of a good work/life balance and complementary interests will help you towards a strong long-term profile.
Significant experience (5 years+) of working in a private client or trust department in a client facing role.
