Blair West are supporting a Newcastle-based business client to find a Chief Technology Officer – Banking & Private Capital. Our client is a specialist software development and consulting business, created as a joint venture between two globally recognised brands. They deliver complex, cutting-edge data and technology solutions in financial services and alternative investment markets.
This role will sit at senior leadership level, with responsibility for leading the Banking and Private Capital vertical, and represents a critical hire as the business scales its third-party client offering. The position is newly created and offers a clear pathway to Managing Director of the business unit.
The opportunity:
- Lead the Banking and Private Capital technology offering, shaping strategy and direction for the sector.
- Act as the senior technology authority for clients, translating complex commercial and technical requirements into deliverable solutions.
- Identify, engage, and develop relationships with target clients, leveraging an established industry network.
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of client engagements, from opportunity identification through to delivery oversight.
- Map client needs to capabilities across software engineering, data, AI, and DevOps.
- Work closely with highly technical delivery teams to ensure solutions are commercially and technically robust.
- Contribute to the wider growth strategy, supporting expansion into new markets and sectors.
- Play a key role in establishing their external reputation within Banking and Private Capital.
You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you have:
- Significant experience as a senior, commercially focused Technology or Product leader within Banking or Private Capital. Alternatively, a strong background as a Lead or Principal within a software consultancy serving financial services clients.
- A proven track record of delivering commercially successful, complex technology programmes.
- A deep understanding of sector-specific technology challenges, opportunities, and buying models.
- The ability to bridge the gap between senior stakeholders and highly technical engineering teams, and a deep understanding of very complex data models.
- An established professional network within Banking and/or Private Capital.
- An exceptional academic background, including an excellent computer science degree from a Russell Group, Ivy League, or equivalent institution. Postgraduate qualifications would be advantageous.
- The ambition and credibility to progress into a Managing Director role as the business unit matures.
