The Role

Blagdon Primary School is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join their teaching team with effect from 1st September 2026. You will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality education to our pupils, establishing a safe, calm and stimulating environment where children are inspired to reach the highest possible standards in their learning and conduct. You will work in close partnership with school leaders, colleagues, parents and external agencies to ensure a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.

As a vital member of our teaching team, you will assist in delivering comprehensive day-to-day classroom management whilst also undertaking strategic, data-driven duties to monitor and track pupil progress. This unique role involves planning well-structured lessons, utilising formative and summative assessments to secure strong outcomes and building positive, professional relationships across our school community. Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a safe, calm and stimulating learning environment rooted in mutual respect to set goals that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds and abilities.
  • Account for pupil attainment and prior knowledge to plan well-structured lessons that encourage children to take a responsible attitude toward their own work.
  • Maintain a secure understanding of relevant primary curriculum areas, including high-quality delivery of systematic synthetic phonics and early mathematics.
  • Differentiating lessons appropriately to engage and support a wide range of needs, including pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), high-ability learners and those with English as an additional language.
  • Incorporate formative and summative assessments, including the Trust tracker, into weekly and termly planning to effectively monitor progress, set targets and provide regular feedback to pupils.
  • Maintain an outstanding learning environment by implementing clear rules and routines in accordance with the school's behaviour policy, using praise, sanctions and rewards consistently and fairly.
  • Build effective professional relationships with colleagues, actively participate in trust appraisal processes, share in planning co-operatively and advise on subject management.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding pupil achievements, progress and wellbeing while collaborating with external specialists and agencies when required.
