Brief Summary of the Role
The Childcare Admissions Support Officer plays a key role in supporting the Flying Start programme by ensuring that childcare admissions, allocations, and transitions for families run smoothly. The role involves collecting and reviewing vacancy, capacity, attendance, assessment and progression data from childcare providers, and liaising with health professionals, parents, and settings to ensure children’s needs are met. It also includes encouraging take‑up of childcare places, addressing any barriers families may face, and supporting professional learning activities within the Childcare and Play Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Collecting and reviewing vacancy, capacity, attendance, assessment, and progression data from childcare providers.
- Liaising with health professionals, parents, and settings to ensure children’s needs are met.
- Encouraging take‑up of childcare places and addressing barriers families may face.
- Supporting professional learning activities within the Childcare and Play Team.
- Contributing to training coordination, data collation, transition support, and engagement with families and providers.
