Join our extraordinary Flying Start team and embark on a fulfilling journey as a Dads Support Worker. We are searching for enthusiastic individuals who are eager to have influence in the lives of fathers and their families. The Blaenau Gwent Dads Support Service is a non-statutory team aimed at improving outcomes for children and fathers. It offers information, advice, and practical support to dads, dads-to-be, stepfathers, grandparents, or any male caregiver of children aged 0–18 living in Blaenau Gwent.

About you

Are you enthusiastic about making a difference in the lives of fathers and children, providing them with the best possible start in life? If so, we would love to hear from you. As a Dads Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children.

Your role

Your role would include helping to improve the mental/ physical health of fathers by providing practical support in a variety of settings, including the home; and to improve the social/emotional development of the child by promoting positive parenting skills and healthy coupling relationships. This includes working in partnership with fathers and male family members to offer support, advice and guidance focused on parenting and adult-to-child interactions but also on a range of issues such as behaviour management, financial resilience and collaborating with individuals to raise aspirations and develop confidence and self-esteem.

Requirements & Eligibility

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. A comprehensive pre-employment screening process will be undertaken which will include an Enhanced Disclosure with Child & Adult Barred List.

Access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement of the role.
