An opportunity has arisen within the Children, Young People & Families Directorate for a Food in Schools Officer within the Blaenau Gwent Catering Service.

Responsibilities

  • The Officer will support the Welsh Government's updated school standards by assisting the Assistant Team Leader and Dietician with special diets and working with parents to make necessary adjustments for students with disabilities.
  • The role focuses on improving school meals for efficiency, resilience and nutrition and driving lasting positive change through building knowledge, skills and confidence in others.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in health promotion, nutrition or a related field
  • Level 3 Food Safety certificate
  • NVQ Levels 1 and 2 in Catering or City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2
  • Level 3 Allergen Management in Catering qualification (desirable)

Additional Requirements

  • Must be prepared to work additional hours, or at any reasonable time of day, as required to support the smooth and effective running of the catering unit.
  • This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. A comprehensive pre-employment screening process will be undertaken which will include an Enhanced Disclosure with Child Barred List.
