Job Purpose: The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities while maintaining and growing relationships with existing clients. The role focuses on increasing revenue across the company's services, including crane hire, contract lifting, specialist transport, lorry loader hire, powered access, temporary roadways, and traffic management. The successful candidate will develop strategic relationships with clients, contractors, utilities, telecoms providers, and infrastructure organisations to promote the company's services and drive sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, referrals, and tender opportunities.
  • Identify and target new customers within construction, telecoms, utilities, infrastructure, rail, energy, and industrial sectors.
  • Develop and implement business development strategies to achieve revenue growth targets.
  • Attend client meetings, networking events, exhibitions, and industry functions.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and regularly report on opportunities and conversion rates.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key accounts.
  • Conduct regular client reviews to identify additional opportunities and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure excellent customer service throughout the sales process and project delivery.

Commercial & Tendering Activities:

  • Assist in the preparation of quotations, proposals, and tender submissions.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements and service contracts.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments.
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure solutions meet client requirements.

Collaboration & Operational Support:

  • Liaise with planners, supervisors, transport teams, and project managers to ensure successful delivery of services.

  • Promote the company's health, safety, quality, and environmental standards at all times.

Reporting & Administration:

  • Maintain accurate CRM records and customer information.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts and activity reports.
  • Monitor sales performance against agreed targets and KPIs.
  • Produce monthly reports detailing opportunities, wins, losses, and market intelligence.
