As a Senior Engineer at HS2, you’ll hit the ground running with a strong foundation in civil engineering and a readiness to take on complex challenges. You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality engineering support across our projects, with a focus on planning, constructability, and mentoring junior staff. While we don’t expect you to know everything on day one, we’ll provide on-the-job training to bring you up to speed with our specialist earthmoving methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct GNSS site surveys and set out for earthworks
- Review 3D machine control models and construction drawings
- Collaborate with Foremen to develop safe and efficient construction methods
- Prepare key documentation (Plans, RAMS, QA, ITPs, Checklists)
- Perform soil quality checks and moisture content testing
- Support near-term and medium-term planning
- Identify commercial events and manage verbal instructions
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development
Additional Senior-Level Duties:
- Long-term planning including mass-haul and seasonal strategies
- Material suitability assessments and test schedule recommendations
- Constructability assessments for complex, multi-phase earthworks
- Temporary works planning and optimisation
What We’re Looking For
- Relevant civil engineering experience
- Eligible for ICE graduate membership and working towards IEng
- Full UK driving licence
