As Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the commercial team. You will oversee, direct, mentor and audit Project Quantity Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and their assistants in the delivery of their duties, ensuring commercial risk is understood, managed and mitigated effectively. Your focus will be on protecting and maximising cash flow and securing strong financial returns for the project.

  • Ensuring strict compliance with contract commercial processes and requirements, including timely submission of applications for payment, client cash flows and target cost budget forecasts.
  • Agreement of interim and final accounts, including defined cost reviews and participation in client audits.
  • Internal financial and commercial reporting, including preparation and upkeep of budgets, cash flow forecasts, cost/value reconciliations and final forecasts.
  • Subcontractor and supply chain management.
  • Collating, monitoring and submission of contract key performance indicators.

Relevant professional qualifications in commercial and contractual construction management are required, along with proven experience managing commercial activities for a specialist or main contractor. Extensive expertise in change management and communicating its commercial impact is essential, as well as experience on major civil engineering projects, ideally large-scale earthworks. Familiarity with cost data systems, plus quality and document control processes, is also necessary.
