Indirect Tax Manager in Crawley

Our client is looking for an interim European Indirect Tax Manager for a 12 month contract starting asap. The role is hybrid (3 days in the office) and is based near Crawley.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

External Reporting and Regulatory

• Oversees the European branch reporting and filing requirements for VAT, Intrastats, and other statutory submissions.
• Review and approves VAT/Intrastat returns in compliance with legal regulations.
• Act as point of contact for European VAT queries for the business. Works with external advisors to answer questions from authorities regarding statistical and indirect tax matters.
• Work with external consultants or auditors to provide required information and ensure proper recordkeeping for historical purposes.
• Support data requests for tax audits and acts as key contact with tax authorities.

Internal Reporting and Regulatory

• Answers queries from customers and suppliers regarding indirect tax.
• Support EU finance team on reconciliations, reports, queries and analysis as required.
• Understand workflows and recommends business processes to improve efficiency of processes and accuracy of data
• Liaise closely with relevant colleagues in wider business, and is regarded as subject matter expert for indirect tax impacts

Candidates must be qualified with 3 years PQE. EU VAT and Intrastat experience is essential. This is a very hands-on, internal facing role with considerable exposure to the Branch accounting teams across Europe.

A working knowledge of E-Invoicing will be highly advantageous as will a working knowledge of customs compliance and VAT application to distribution.

You will also have solid analytical skills, with strong Excel and multicurrency ERP working knowledge (ideally SAP).
