The BIM Technician will be responsible for the production, coordination, and management of BIM models and technical drawings across multiple projects. Working within the BIM/CAD team, the role requires a solid understanding of BIM processes, the ability to work independently, and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders across IT, AV, and Security disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and coordinate detailed 2D drawings and 3D BIM models, including:
- Floor Plans
- Schematics
- Cabinet/Frame Layouts
- Detailed Drawings
- Isometric Diagrams
- Apply and maintain company BIM/CAD standards across all project deliverables.
- Work independently on allocated projects while supporting senior team members on more complex tasks.
- Coordinate design information by incorporating mark-ups and managing revisions accurately.
- Participate in clash detection processes and assist in resolving coordination issues.
- Liaise with internal teams (Design, Production, PMO) and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated design outputs.
- Manage multiple project deadlines and prioritise workload effectively.
- Provide support and guidance to junior team members where required.
- Assist in improving BIM workflows, processes, and documentation standards.
- Ensure all outputs are delivered to a high level of accuracy and quality.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Typically, 3–5 years’ experience in a BIM role within a relevant industry. Data Centre experience desirable but not essential.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (2018 and later).
- Good understanding of BIM processes, standards, and coordination workflows.
- Experience working on IT, AV, Security, or similar technical drawing packages.
- Experience using clash detection software (e.g., Navisworks or similar).
- Familiarity with BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud (desirable).
- Experience using Bluebeam and Adobe Acrobat Pro (desirable).
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Ability to interpret design intent, mark-ups, and technical specifications.
- Experience attending coordination meetings.
