This role will sit within a fast growing and dynamic business and involve product structuring and launching the firm’s individual investor focused vehicles, managing the day-to-day legal matters for new and existing retail funds, and assisting the other senior lawyers within Private Wealth Legal with strategic projects.

Blackstone Private Wealth was established to answer the growing demand for Blackstone products from high-net worth investors. Partnering with many of the world’s largest private banks and wealth management firms as well as family offices, Blackstone’s Private Wealth team packages and delivers the full breadth of Blackstone’s alternative product capability to these firms and their clients and provides ongoing product and advisor support, as well as education and training around alternatives.

This role will involve a variety of interesting and cutting-edge legal and general corporate matters, with a focus on the formation and ongoing management of Blackstone’s European retail business targeted at private banks and wealth managers. Primary job responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in the design and launch of new funds.
  • Overseeing the ongoing day-to-day management of new and existing funds.
  • Assisting senior leaders with project management and fund formation matters and participating in product development of various investment structures across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Participating in the creation and management of fund board materials.
  • Managing regulatory filings (e.g., AIFMD disclosures, annual reports and prospectus updates) and assisting with day-to-day oversight of legal matters.
  • Working with the in-house Legal & Compliance team and external counsel to monitor and implement legal and regulatory developments that impact Blackstone’s European retail funds and their distribution.
  • Providing regulatory and legal advice to investment professionals and business personnel, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop and enhance internal processes.
  • Managing relationships with outside counsel to address specific legal issues and review fund documentation.

The successful candidate should:

  • Be a solicitor / lawyer qualified in England and Wales or other jurisdictions.
  • Have a minimum of six years of relevant post qualification experience (law firm, in-house or combination thereof).
  • Be a creative problem solver with a can-do attitude.
