About Us and the role:

The award-winning team at Blackstone solicitors are looking for individuals driven by wanting to make a difference for our clients, our employees, and our community. We are looking to recruit a qualified Construction Solicitor to work in our growing Construction team. With PQE2+, the ideal candidate will have good technical and procedural knowledge and an ability and desire to share it with, and support other more junior members of the team. You will be joining a growing team who are exposed to high-quality work, and running a caseload of complex and varied construction matters. We are a reputable law firm based in the UK with a dedicated team of 50 staff members and growing, providing exceptional legal services to our clients. The Construction Solicitor role is a key component of the Construction Team to provide the expertise needed to deliver a great and consistent service to our clients along with contributing to the overall happiness of our clients and the Construction Team. You will report directly to the Head of Construction and work alongside him to deliver a well-run, efficient and well organised Construction Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The role will be primarily contentious in the short term and experience in all relevant forms of dispute resolution (adjudication, litigation, arbitration, expert determination and mediation) arising under JCT and other construction contracts is required.
  • The team provides strategic advice to clients to ensure that disputes are resolved as cost effectively as possible whilst achieving the best possible outcome.
  • A proactive and innovative approach to dispute avoidance and resolution is encouraged.
  • There will be the ability to undertake some non-contentious work and experience in this area is preferred, but not essential – relevant training can be provided as required.
  • The work in this area comprises advice on the procurement of construction projects, including the drafting and negotiation of construction contracts, consultancy appointments and ancillary documentation such as deeds of novation, collateral warranties, parent company guarantees and performance bonds.
  • Enthusiastic about maintaining high standards of client care.
  • Highly organised and efficient.
  • Must be a strong tactical lawyer with excellent commercial skills.
  • Diligent with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Identify legal risks and advise clients on risk mitigation strategies, ensuring that all transactions comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Work closely with other teams in the firm, including real estate, corporate, and finance departments, to deliver integrated solutions to clients.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service delivery and effective communication, ensuring long-term client retention.
  • Adhering to the SLA terms within the provided time frame.
  • Handling multiple transactions simultaneously, ensuring that each is completed within the set deadline date in a professional manner.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise high volume caseload in a fast paced environment.
  • Prioritising urgent matters effectively while maintaining attention to details across all tasks.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of multiple ongoing cases.
