Blackstone Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive college in Redbridge for a dedicated Learning Support Worker to join their Supported Learning Team. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to achieve their full potential. Whether you have experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker or Youth Worker, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

  • Supporting learners with SEND and Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Promoting independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours
  • Providing classroom, workshop and one-to-one learning support
  • Assisting students with literacy, numeracy and learning activities
  • Adapting learning materials to meet individual needs
  • Supporting learners with emotional wellbeing and behaviour management
  • Providing personal care where required (training available)
  • Assisting with exam support, educational trips and college activities
  • Recording learner progress and working alongside teachers and the wider Supported Learning Team

About You

  • Has experience supporting children, young people or adults with additional needs
  • Is patient, caring and committed to helping others succeed
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Is organised, reliable and proactive
  • Holds GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)
  • Has experience within education, care, health or support work (desirable but not essential)
  • Is willing to undertake training including personal care, First Aid and Emotional Literacy Support if required
