We are currently recruiting passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants / Learning Support Assistants to work across a group of specialist SEN schools and mainstream schools within Carlisle and the surrounding areas. These schools support children and young people with a range of additional needs including:

  • Severe & Moderate Learning Difficulties (SLD/MLD)
  • Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • SEMH needs
  • Speech & Language barriers
  • Non-verbal communication needs
  • Personal care and self-care support requirements

The Role As a Teaching Assistant / LSA, you will:

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Help create a safe, engaging and positive learning environment
  • Build strong relationships with students and staff
  • Support students with communication, emotional regulation and learning activities
  • Assist with personal care where required
  • Encourage independence and confidence in students
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and SEN professionals

We Are Looking For Candidates Who:

  • Have experience working with children or vulnerable adults (preferred but not essential)
  • Are patient, proactive and resilient
  • Can build positive rapport with students
  • Are comfortable supporting SEN needs and behaviours
  • Are flexible and available for either long-term placements or daily supply work
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (or are willing to apply for one)
