Blackpool Council is seeking compassionate and reliable Passenger Assistants to support our Passenger Transport services. A successful candidate will support children with special educational or healthcare needs during their journeys to and from school. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety, comfort and well-being of our young passengers and setting them up with a positive start to their day.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist children with boarding and alighting from the vehicle.
- Assist with the securement of wheelchairs using appropriate restraints.
- Ensure the safety and security of children during transit.
- Provide emotional and practical support to children as needed.
- Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, office team and school staff.
- Work as part of a team with the driver.
Successful candidates will have completed the Passenger Assistant Training course delivered by the Integrated Transport Team and will be required to complete any further training identified for the role.
Hours available for these positions is 15 hours per week, on a term time only basis. Hours will generally be worked over a split shift with an outgoing journey in the mornings and a return journey in the afternoons.
