Overview
Casual Passenger Assistant required for transport between home and day care establishments/schools/colleges. The role involves accompanying drivers in vehicles carrying passengers, some of whom may have special educational, complex health needs or mobility problems and may be transported in wheelchairs.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Assist with the boarding and alighting of passengers, and secure wheelchairs ensuring correct restraints.
- Ensure all passengers are transported safely and legally.
- Work as part of a team with the driver, requiring excellent communication skills when dealing with face-to-face service users, parents/carers, and professionals.
- Complete the Passenger Assistant Training course and satisfactorily complete a period of job shadowing.
- Work over a split shift with an outgoing journey in the morning and a return journey in the afternoon.
- Hours are split between 15 to 20 per week.
- Pursue permanent positions from casual recruitment where applicable.
