Hours – 37.5 per week
Salary – NJC Grade H5 £59,023 – £64,660 per annum

Shape Blackpool’s future and play a key role in transforming the nation’s favourite seaside resort. This is a rare opportunity to guide the strategic direction of a nationally significant town undergoing major transformation with substantial investment in housing, regeneration, transport, culture and economic development, including an ambitious £2 billion Growth and Prosperity regeneration programme.

- £90 million Inner Area Housing Improvement Programme
- £350 million multi‑phase Talbot Gateway Central Business District, including a £65 million Multiversity education and skills campus
- 144‑hectare Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone to deliver 5,000 jobs, including the innovative Silicon Sands development
- £300 million Blackpool Central Leisure development
- Hotel schemes to complement the Winter Gardens new Conference and Exhibition Centre
What You’ll Do
You will lead the strategic planning and transport policy functions that shape Blackpool’s growth, development and long‑term investment. You will ensure that statutory plans, policies and strategies reflect the Borough’s regeneration priorities, development potential and wider Council ambitions, while meeting all legislative and regulatory requirements and preparing for the new Spatial Development Strategy as part of the Lancashire Combined County Authority.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for an influential, strategic planning leader with a strong professional background and proven experience in shaping and delivering statutory development plans and managing transport policy at a senior level.
